Iraqi troops repulsed an Iranian offensive in Kurdistan province, and missile batteries fired three long-range rockets into Tehran, the Iraqi News Agency reported. Iran said it fired two missiles into Baghdad in retaliation. Tehran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency said Iraqi troops launched a series of counterattacks seeking to recapture territory in Kurdistan. It said 3,500 Iraqis have been killed or wounded since Iran launched its offensive Monday across the mountainous border. There was no independent confirmation of either side’s claims.
