Nakano Resigns as Reseda Coach

Tim Nakano, the varsity basketball coach at Reseda High for two seasons, resigned his position last week, citing personal reasons and time constraints.
Nakano, who lives in Alhambra, was tired of the daily commute and expressed a desire to spend more time with his family. Principal Robert Kladifko said the resignation was not spurred by Reseda’s 3-16 record last season.
“It had nothing to do with the team,” Kladifko said. “He’s a fine coach, and the teachers, staff and myself have been more than happy with the job he’s done as a teacher and coach. It was just the distance and the time involved that were the main reasons.”
Nakano, 32, said he will finish the school year at Reseda as a physical education instructor and then seek a transfer to another L. A. City school.
