While General Electric says it has no plans to sell NBC, a majority of the network’s employees has doubts about that, with staffers viewing GE “with skepticism and uncertainty,” a surprisingly frank memo from NBC president Robert C. Wright said Thursday. The memo, sent to all NBC employees, reports in general terms on an employee poll that the company made in February. More than 5,400 of NBC’s 7,500 employees responded. The poll showed “mixed emotions,” the memo said, with “a high percentage” of employees saying they didn’t feel their jobs were secure, yet most still rating NBC as a better place to work than other companies. Wright’s memo said that department heads will meet next month with employees to discuss the survey. Wright also said that the “first priority” of the company’s leaders in the coming year will be to create “an atmosphere in which we can go forward with far less doubt about NBC’s goals and intentions. . . .”
