Martinez’s Distortions on Magic Mountain
Al Martinez has a very distorted view of reality and suffers from an extreme case of racial pride. This is painfully evident in his “colorful” opening statement (April 4) describing Six Flags Magic Mountain as “the Valencia amusement center for white people.”
I have visited Six Flags Magic Mountain several times, and it is as perfect an example of a “melting pot” as American society itself. In fact, around some Mexican holidays, “white bread” seems to be a minority. As a “white person,” I am insulted by Martinez’s “colorful” nicknames. It’s the most obvious and ignorant form of reverse bigotry.
I applaud any attempt to curtail the rampant gang violence sweeping and poisoning our city. If a few “innocents” get turned away for “resembling” gang members, so be it. Maybe they could take the hint, learn some fashion sense and stop trying to emulate low lifes. Besides, better a few disappointed kids than even one real innocent (regardless of color) victim of random, senseless violence.
Mr. Martinez has obvious disdain for whites, amusement parks and roller coasters. That’s fine, but he should examine the facts and weigh the severity of a situation before venting his petty, pent-up racial frustrations.
