The Pentagon formally notified Congress of plans for an $825-million arms sale to Saudi Arabia. Congress has 30 days to reject the sale, which includes funds for refueling aircraft and support equipment for five radar surveillance planes previously purchased by the Saudis. On Monday, 187 House members urged the Administration to drop the support equipment sale until Congress has had the opportunity to assess the threat to Israel posed by the Chinese sale of medium-range missiles to the Saudis. The U.S. sale would be blocked if both houses of Congress vote against it.
