Top Two Seeded Players and Doubles Teams Reach Tennis Finals

The top two seeded singles players and doubles teams won Thursday to advance to today’s finals of the San Diego Section individual tennis championships at The Bishop’s School.
No. 1 Tommy Phanco and No. 2 Andy Potter breezed to decisive wins in singles.
The Bishop’s Phanco, rated by some the top college tennis prospect in California, defeated No. 6 seed Mark Askvig of Valhalla, 6-4, 6-0.
San Pasqual’s Potter beat No. 8 Mark Ellison of Torrey Pines, 6-3, 6-4.
The top-seeded doubles team, Patrick Henry’s Jeff and Jerry Miyamoto, defeated No. 5 Dennis Kim and Dan McKenzie of La Jolla, 6-2, 6-1.
The best match of the day was between second-seeded Chris Swortwood and Chris Zarro of Torrey Pines and No. 3 Mauricio and Adria Cordova of Bonita Vista. Swortwood and Zarro won, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2).
