David B. Pivan has been elected chairman of Wavetek Corp., a manufacturer of electronic test equipment with headquarters in San Diego. Pivan, a director since February, 1987, succeeds John M. Thornton, who resigned as chairman but will continue as a director. Henry Reinecke Jr. has resigned as a director and has retired as senior vice president-new ventures.
