Lottery

I read with interest the comments both pro and con regarding our state lottery (letters, June 8).

On the plus side, the lottery raises a lot of revenue for the state which can be used for worthwhile purposes.

What I object to are the television commercials designed to brainwash more and more people into the fold. We all know the power of advertising on the unwary and the naive.

On one hand, we ban TV advertising for cigarettes and liquor, but encourage gambling by luring people into thinking that they may be the next big winner, most of whom can ill afford the expense.
