Clues to the identity of skeletal remains found in a Canyon Country park June 4 were released Sunday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Van Mosley said the remains, found by a hiker and his dog in a Live Oak Campground creek bed south of Sand Canyon Road, were those of a Caucasian woman with dark brown hair who was between the ages of 21 and 24. Mosley said investigators believe she was between 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 5 feet, 5 inches tall.
At the time of her death, he said, the woman was wearing a brown knit sweater over a brown sweat shirt with the collar cut out of it.
The cause of the woman’s death still was under investigation and it was not known how long she had been dead, Mosley said. Investigators asked that anyone with information about the woman’s identity or death call the Sheriff’s Department.
