Robert Webster, swimming coach at Newport Harbor High School, has accepted a position as an assistant swim coach at Nevada Las Vegas, he said Friday.
Webster, who coached the boys’ and girls’ teams the past two years and led the Sailors to a 23-3 dual-meet record this season, will handle recruiting and coach sprinters for the men’s and women’s teams at UNLV.
A graduate of Estancia High School and UC Santa Barbara, Webster worked as an assistant coach at Santa Barbara and also coached for four years at Laguna Beach High School before he came to Newport Harbor.
A replacement for Webster has not been named.
