CAMPAIGN ’88 : ‘Baloney Buffet’ Party
A group of Texas Democrats, in Houston for their party’s state convention, held a “baloney buffet” in the hotel suite that is Vice President George Bush’s official state residence.
“It’s pretty well known that George Bush moved out of Texas some years ago and moved to Maine,” said Ty Fain, an Austin businessman and Democratic Party activist who rented Suite 271 at the Houstonian Hotel and Conference Center.
Fain, munching a bologna sandwich on white bread, led visitors around the three-room suite, which rents for $515 a night.
Bush has not owned a home in Texas since becoming vice president in 1981. He has a vacation home in Maine.
