For Another Reason

In Judith Morgan’s article, “A Pass to the Reading Room at British Library” (June 5), she said she was inadvertently given a book at the British Library because she failed to cross her seven (7) “in the continental fashion.” The British do not cross their sevens. Only those who live on the European continent do this. So unless the British Library at the British Museum practices the continental fashion, which is doubtful, Morgan was given the book for other reasons.
