Worth Blanding Fowler; Shipping Executive

Worth Blanding Fowler, 78, a former president and board chairman of American President Lines. President of the shipping lines from 1968 to 1973, Fowler was named board chairman of American President Lines in 1973, and then retired. He was president of the company’s subsidiary shipping line, American Mail Line, from 1959 to 1968. His great-grandfather was Gen. William J. Worth, who served during the Mexican-American War. The Texas city of Ft. Worth was named after him. In Sonoma, Calif., on Sunday after what was described as a long illness.
