Kevin Rembert of Mater Dei High School has been dismissed from the North team of the Orange County High School All-Star basketball game, according to North Coach John Mayberry.
“He couldn’t fulfill his opportunity to be a member of the North All-Star squad,” Mayberry said. “Therefore, after discussion with the directors of the game, he has been dropped from the squad for lack of participating in practices and scrimmages.”
Under game rules, a player must participate in 10 practices. According to Mayberry, Rembert missed the first two team practices and, on Thursday, failed to show up for a scrimmage against Fullerton College.
Rembert, a 6-foot 5-inch forward, played on four Southern Section championship teams at Mater Dei. Last season, he averaged 14.9 points and 9 rebounds per game. He has signed a letter of intent to attend San Diego State next season.
