The U.S. Postal Service opened a new post office Monday in Canoga Park that is expected to handle 50 million pieces of mail a year and serve a population of 78,000.
Officials said the facility at 8201 Canoga Ave. replaces the old Canoga Park Main Post Office, 21801 Sherman Way, as the center of postal operations in the area.
The new office will have window hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Post office box hours will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The facility will be closed Sundays and holidays. Its windows will be closed Saturdays.
Officials said the old main post office on Sherman Way will still offer window service from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A post office annex at 7701 Canoga Ave. was closed Friday.
