7.3 Earthquake Rocks India-Burma Border

GOLDEN, Colo. — The strongest earthquake measured in the world since March, struck today in a remote area along the India-Burma border, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake registered 7.3 on the Richter scale and was centered 200 miles east of Shillong, India, and 230 miles northwest of Mandalay, Burma. No information on damage or casualties was immediately available.
The quake was the biggest since a 7.6 tremor in the Gulf of Alaska on March 6.
