More Sales, Tax Benefits Helps Diodes Turn a Profit

Diodes Inc., benefiting from increased sales and tax benefits, earned $144,142, or 4 cents a share, in the fourth quarter that ended April 30, compared to a loss of $553,863 in the year-earlier period. Of that profit, $55,501 was attributable to tax benefits.
For the year, the company earned $621,326, or 25 cents a share, compared to a loss of $631,901 a year earlier. Of that, $239,239 came from tax benefits.
The Chatsworth company, which makes electrical components called rectifiers that are used to regulate power in such equipment as computers, said its results in part improved during the year because of higher demand for its products. Sales rose 23% in the fiscal year to $15.2 million, although they dropped 2% in the fourth quarter to $3.4 million.
