Zenith National Insurance Profit Declines 5%

Zenith National Insurance Co.’s earnings fell 5% to $12,342,000, or 57 cents per share, in the second quarter that ended June 30 as gains realized on investments fell more than 67% to $523,000.
Zenith, a Woodland Hills insurance company that specializes in workers’ compensation coverage, said its income from operations rose 3% to $11.8 million. Revenue in the period was $120.3 million, up 2% from a year earlier.
For the six months, Zenith’s profit fell less than 1% to $24.9 million, or $1.16 a share, with income from operations rising 13% to $23.8 million. Revenue rose 7% to $239.9 million.
