Harris Corp. has agreed to acquire the GE Solid State semiconductor business of General Electric Co. for an undisclosed sum in a move that would significantly boost its semiconductor sales. The price was not disclosed. GE Solid State of Somerville, N.J., a manufacturer of semiconductor chips for the automotive industry, the military and other customers, employs about 10,000 people worldwide, with annual sales of $550 million. The Harris semiconductor sector employs about 4,000 people, with annual sales of about $300 million.
