RALEIGH, N.C. — White Consolidated Industries will build a $75-million appliance manufacturing facility in Lenoir County, company officials have announced.
The plant will manufacture dishwashers and eventually employ 850 people.
WCI will begin construction on the 500,000-square-foot operation later this summer with operations scheduled to begin in 1989.
The company manufactures appliances under the brand names Frigidare, Tappan, White-Westinghouse, Gibson, Kelvinator and O’Keefe & Merritt. The company has annual sales greater than $2 billion and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AB Electrolux of Sweden, the world’s largest appliance manufacturer.
