Junior Philharmonic’s Instrumental Contest

More than $18,000 in prizes, plus scholarships and performances opportunities, will be awarded at the fourth annual instrumental competition sponsored by the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, Oct. 23-30.
David Alan Miller, assistant conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will be chairman of the judging panel awarding first-place prizes of $2,000 and second-place prizes of $1,000 in three categories: strings, woodwinds and brass.
In addition, a special prize will be given the most promising instrumentalist in the entire competition, and another special award will go to a Pasadena-area resident competitor.
