Snap-On Tools Corp. faces a period of uncertainty due to a Federal Trade Commission inquiry into its business practices, analysts said. The inquiry follows the filing of about 20 lawsuits against the company by former and current Snap-On dealers who charge the firm with fraudulent and misleading practices. The Kenosha, Wis.-based company, which sells auto tools directly to professional mechanics by calling on them regularly at their place of business, said the suits are unfounded.
