Rob Lock of Kentucky, the Clippers’ third-round draft choice, announced he will play this season in Italy.
Lock, a 6-foot 11-inch center who averaged 10.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season and played for the Clippers during the recent summer league, said in a news conference in Lexington, Ky., that he received a “great offer I couldn’t refuse” from Calabria, in southern Italy. He would not disclose the salary, but said it was in the “six-figure range” and included performance incentives worth another $78,000.
The Clippers will retain his NBA rights for two years.
