Poly Delays Hiring of Basketball Coach

George Tideback, Poly High athletic director, said that a replacement for basketball Coach Al Uyemura will not be hired before an Aug. 29 meeting among school officials.
Uyemura, 44, resigned earlier this month after eight years as Poly’s coach to go into business.
The Parrots qualified for the City Section 3-A playoffs five times during his tenure and won the East Valley League title in 1986.
