SANTA BARBARA — President Reagan has signed a bill increasing funding for an incoming president and vice president in the transition period from $2 million to $3.5 million, the White House announced today. The legislation also provides an increase from $1 million to $1.5 million to an outgoing president and vice president.
The funding was passed under amendments to the Presidential Transition Act of 1963. It requires that any amount appropriated in excess of $1.25 million would have to be returned to the Treasury if a former vice president becomes the President.
