The casting of NBC’s TV movies tends to rely heavily on the stars of NBC series, but the network has branched out a bit for one called “The Amish Story.” In addition to Jill Eikenberry of NBC’s “L.A. Law,” it will star Ron Perlman of CBS’ “Beauty and the Beast” and Ken Olin of ABC’s “thirtysomething.” Olin is a prosecutor who wants to press charges in the death of an Amish baby; Eikenberry plays his wife and Perlman plays the father of the dead child.

CBS has ordered a second movie based on the romantic novels of Barbara Cartland. This one, based on the book “Cupid Rides Pillion,” is called “Dangerous Love” and will star Emma Samms, Oliver Reed, Michael York, Hugh Grant, Claire Bloom, Lysette Anthony and Christopher Cazenove. It’s being filmed in England.

Dame Wendy Hiller will be seen on PBS’ “Masterpiece Theatre” next season, starring in “All Passion Spent.” It’s a three-part drama about an 85-year-old woman who severs her ties with her children to take up residence in a home of her own.

Former opera star Beverly Sills is going to try her hand at a TV talk show. She’s agreed to host a weekly show for daytime television that Grant Tinker’s GTG Entertainment will try to syndicate for the 1989-90 season. The aim, says Tinker, is to “bring back the upbeat feeling and sense of fun that Dinah Shore, Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas brought to daytime television.”
