WEEKEND BOX OFFICE : Willis Hangs Tough

Twentieth Century Fox adopted a cautious release strategy with “Die Hard.” But the Bruce Willis action picture is holding on even stronger than two newer releases, Fox’s “Young Guns,” which slipped from fifth to eighth place, and Touchstone/Disney’s “Cocktail,” which is now in sixth place. Now in its eighth week of release, “Die Hard” so far has grossed $58.5 million.

* The four-day holiday weekend proved a big boon for Orion’s “Married to the Mob.” The comedy about a New Jersey housewife’s attempts to break away from life with the mob watched its box office sales increase an impressive 40% over the previous weekend.
