Rohr Industries reported a 31% increase in profit and 27% jump in sales for the fourth quarter ended July 31.
The Chula Vista-based jet engine component manufacturer posted a profit of $9.2 million on sales of $253.4 million for the fourth quarter, up from a profit of $7 million on sales of $200.3 million over the same three months last year.
For the fiscal year ended July 31, Rohr’s profit of $32.5 million was up 21% from the previous year’s $26.9 million. Fiscal 1988 sales were $906.8 million, up 37% over last year’s $663.4 million.
Thomas O. Lloyd-Butler, an analyst with Montgomery Securities of San Francisco, said the results show Rohr’s “continued strength in volume, almost in line with projections.”
“The only weakness in the results was reflected in continued pressure on profit margins,” Lloyd-Butler said.
