Iraq announced its agreement to attend a single Persian Gulf peace meeting at the United Nations in New York early next month, putting to rest doubts as to whether the talks with Iran would continue. Earlier, Iraq had responded to a U.N. mediator’s call for a New York meeting of the Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers by saying it would go to New York only after a date was set for a resumption of the Geneva talks.
