Santa Clara 31, Rio Mesa 21--Quarterback Tim Gutierrez completed 24 of 30 passes, including 12 in a row, for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Saints in the fourth quarter at Rio Mesa.

Trailing, 24-14, with 6:36 remaining, Rio Mesa narrowed the margin to 3 points when John Gomez connected with David LaSalle on a 38-yard touchdown pass. But Gutierrez marched the Saints 62 yards in 11 plays, capped by a 10-yard touchdown pass to Matt Young.
