SAN DIEGO — Wayne Gretzky scored a goal and an assist Tuesday night, but the Kings remained winless in the exhibition season after a 5-4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The defeat, before a sellout crowd of 13,155 at the Sports Arena, dropped the Kings’ record to 0-3-2.
Gretzky makes his Forum debut in a King uniform tonight when the Kings and Winnipeg play at 7:35.
Gretzky scored a power-play goal 5:24 into the first period to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. He took a pass from Steve Duchesne and beat Alain Chevrier easily for his second goal of the exhibition season.
With the score tied, 2-2, in the second period, Gretzky skated in on the left side and fired a shot that Chevrier stopped. Dave Taylor picked up the rebound and scored.
