PROVO, Utah — Sean Covey passed for 359 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for another, and freshman Eric Mortensen returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown Friday night to power Brigham Young past Utah State, 38-3.
Covey passed for a 12-yard touchdown to Chuck Cutler in the second quarter and a 39-yard score to Jeff Frandsen in the fourth quarter. Covey also scored on a 2-yard sweep around right end.
BYU is 3-1, Utah State 1-3.
