The Los Angeles County Fair attracted 1,378,885 visitors during its 61st season, which ended Sunday. Attendance at the 18-day event was up 2,000 from last year despite competition from the Summer Olympics and a price increase, fair spokesman Sid Robinson said.
Visitors to the 487-acre fairgrounds in Pomona included 10 children in a Brunei royal family entourage of 39, Neil Bush, son of Vice President George Bush, the Republican presidential candidate, Secretary of State March Fong Eu and Long Beach resident Zarifa Abnur-Rahim, who at age 103 was declared the winner of the Eldest Visitor Contest.
