VIDEO CHARTS : Renters Await ‘E.T.’s’ Homecoming

“Moonstruck” could rule the Billboard magazine rental chart until “E.T.”--which is expected to take over in early November. Disney’s kid-vid blockbuster “Cinderella” is just out, but its $26.95 retail price should lure more buyers than renters. But “Broadcast News,” which inched up to No. 2, might just slip into the top spot before “E.T.” arrives. “The Milagro Beanfield War,” expected to do especially well in Latino markets, is No. 14 after two weeks.
* Some critics made jokes about this sentimental fantasy, “entertainment not included,” one quipped. Its elderly stars, Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, didn’t have great appeal for the youth-dominated movie crowd; but home-video audiences, which tend to be older, are getting a charge out of this one. In just two weeks, it has buzzed up to No. 8 on the rental chart.
