Joseph Jankiewicz of San Pedro used a seven-iron to record a hole in one at Harbor Park recently. Jankiewicz, who carries a 22 handicap, got the ace on the 155-yard eighth hole.
Ascot Raceway hosts CMS Motorcross races tonight at 7, sprint cars Saturday night at 8 and three-quarter and full midget races Sunday at 6 p.m. The Pacific Coast Nationals for sprint cars will be run Oct. 13-15.
The Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s soccer team plays host to UC Santa Barbara this afternoon at 3 and plays at UC San Diego on Monday at 2:30. The men’s team continues California Collegiate Athletic Assn. play Saturday at Cal State Northridge at 7:30 p.m.
The Loyola Marymount women’s volleyball team plays at Fresno State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The team returns home to Gersten Pavilion on Tuesday night at 7:30 against San Diego State. The Loyola men’s soccer team plays at St. Mary’s on Sunday and at Santa Clara on Tuesday.
UCLA plays in the Pac-10 soccer tournament this weekend at UC Berkeley. The Bruins meet Stanford on Saturday and Berkeley on Sunday.
Gardena needs referees for its flag football program. Each official receives $10 a game but must attend two meetings to review rules. The first meeting will be Tuesday. For more information call 217-9542.
A golf tournament will be hosted Oct. 17 by the San Pedro and Peninsula YMCA at Rolling Hills Country Club. A shotgun start is planned at noon. For more information call John Provost at 832-4211.
A 36-hole senior men’s and women’s golf tournament will be played at Griffith Park on Oct. 13-14. About 200 golfers are expected. For more information call 485-4871.
The Golden State Grand Prix Series cycling finale will be Sunday at the Olympic Velodrome at Cal State Dominguez Hills starting at 3 p.m. The program will include match sprints, a motorcycle-paced Keirin race and a points race. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, or at the gate after 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and seniors 65 and older.
