A Fullerton man and his two children suffered burns Saturday when their car careened out of control and burst into flames on the Santa Ana Freeway near the Laguna Freeway.
California Highway Patrol officers said the car driven by Benjamin Perez, 28, traveling south in the slow lane, swerved to the right side of the freeway for an unknown reason and struck a guardrail at 11:55 a.m. The car burst into flames.
Perez and his children, Lupe, 3, and Arnulfo 5, were taken first to local hospitals and then to the burn unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Hospital officials described the father as seriously burned and the children as suffering relatively minor burns.
