Chinese Communists Oust 25,000 Members

BEIJING — China’s 48-million-member Communist Party said it expelled 25,249 of its members last year, with more than a third of those removed accused of committing economic crimes including embezzling, bribery or theft.
The official party newspaper People’s Daily reported Wednesday that 37 senior party officials were among those ousted.
