The Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church to help boost blood bank supplies.
Red Cross officials said the agency’s blood banks are low, especially for Type O blood, because the Red Cross did not get enough donations this summer.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and pass a physical exam in which their hemoglobin count, blood pressure, temperature and pulse will be taken.
Blood will be collected from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The church is at 4400 Barranca Parkway, Irvine.
Those interested in participating may call (714) 559-4699 to make an appointment.
