The United States will halt imports of yellowfin tuna from Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela and the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu beginning Sunday, the Commerce Department announced. The embargo will be implemented because of the failure of the four countries to provide evidence that they are catching tuna in accordance with U.S. regulations aimed at reducing the accidental killing of porpoises, the department said.
