Police were searching Wednesday for a suspect who fatally shot a convenience store clerk during an apparent robbery.
Mahmoud A. Rabie, 38, of Buena Park was found dead at the Circle A Market, 7940 Valley View Drive, at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the body was discovered by Rabie’s cousin, Khalid El-Gabry, whose age and address were not immediately available.
Authorities have not determined why El-Gabry was at the store but say they believe he was on the scene only seconds after the shooting.
Rabie, the lone clerk, was shot once in the head, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the cash register, Police Officer Rich McMillen said.
Police said a customer in the store who was at the counter paying for a purchase witnessed the shooting but could not provide a detailed description of the assailant.
