Camarillo 21, Simi Valley 10--Camarillo fullback Greg Exler rushed for 115 yards in 19 carries and scored on runs of 16 and 2 yards--both in the fourth quarter--to bring the Scorpions back from a 10-7 halftime deficit at Simi Valley.
Camarillo (4-5, 3-2) fumbled on its first 2 possessions, one miscue leading to a 32-yard field goal by Simi Valley’s Greg Sabbe. A personal foul against the Scorpions helped set up Eric Hale’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Lamont Harris, which gave the Pioneers (0-9, 0-6) a 10-0 lead with 5:23 left in the first half.
Camarillo quarterback Wes Nathaniel, on fourth and 3, scrambled 23 yards for a touchdown to pull the Scorpions within 3 points with a minute left in the half.
