Brethren High School failed to convert a 2-point conversion late in the game Friday night and Orange Lutheran held on for a 14-12 Olympic League victory in front of 700 at Brethren.
With less than 2 minutes left, Brethren’s Jaco Troskie scored on a 44-yard run to cut Orange Lutheran’s lead to 14-12. However, Kevin Mays’ pass for the 2-point conversion was dropped by Mike Schicora.
Jason Neben, who rushed for 138 yards, scored on a 16-yard run to give Orange Lutheran (7-2, 2-2) the lead with 9:33 left in the first quarter.
Gil Greene, who had 131 yards rushing, then scored on an 80-yard run with 6:13 left in the second quarter. The Lancers led, 14-0, at halftime.
Mays threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Edmundson in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 14-6.
