CIF Football Pairings : Loyola, Carson Earn Top Seeds in Prep Playoffs

Undefeated Del Rey League champion Loyola (10-0) is the top-seeded team in the Southern Section Division I football pairings, which were released Sunday.
The Cubs, ranked No. 1 in the Times Poll and considered the Nation’s top team in two national polls will play Westminster (4-6), the third-place finisher in the Sunset League, Friday in the first round of the playoffs. The finals are scheduled for Dec. 9 at Anaheim Stadium.
Sunset League champion Fountain Valley (8-2) is seeded second. Servite (8-2) and Bishop Amat (8-2), which tied for the Angelus League title, were seeded third and fourth, respectively. The powerful Angelus League also provided the at-large entry--St. Paul (6-4).
In the City football playoffs, which also begin Friday, Pacific League champion Carson (9-1) is top seeded in the 4-A Divison. Fairfax (6-3), San Fernando (7-3) and Taft (6-3) are the remaining seeded teams. The finals are scheduled for Dec. 9.
In the 3-A Division, Northeast League champion Franklin (9-0) is seeded No. 1, followed by Central League winner South Gate (9-0), Mid Valley League champion Monroe (8-1) and Western League winner Westchester (7-3).
Here are the seeded teams and the at-large entries in the remaining eight Southern Section Divisions.
Division II--1. Santa Barbara (10-0); 2. Canyon Country Canyon (8-2); 3. Santa Monica (7-2); 4. Antelope Valley (8-2). At-large: Beverly Hills (7-3).
Division III--1. Mission Viejo (10-0); 2. Los Alamitos (9-0-1); 3. Dominguez (9-1); 4. Paramount (8-1). At-large: Warren (6-3-1).
Division IV--1. Bell Gardens (10-0); 2. Ramona (9-1); 3. Northview (9-1); 4. Los Altos (9-1). At-large: Baldwin Park (7-3).
Division V--1. Etiwanda (10-0); 2. Canyon Springs (9-1); 3. Ganesha (8-2); 4. Central (10-0). At-large: Coachella Valley (6-4) and Mountain View (7-3).
Division VI--1. Valencia (9-0-1); 2. Pacifica (8-1-1); 3. Corona del Mar (8-0-2); 4. La Mirada (7-3). At-large: Troy (6-3-1).
Division VII--1. Santa Maria (9-1); 2. San Marino (8-0-1); 3. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (8-2); 4. Temple City (8-1-1). At-large: South Torrance (5-5).
