Angel Cordero scored two stakes victories at Aqueduct, winning aboard Fast Play in the $329,000 Remsen Stakes and on Open Mind in the $245,200 Demoiselle Stakes.
Fast Play, the favorite in the field of 15 2-year-olds, took the lead entering the stretch and went on to a length victory over Fire Maker. Silver Sunsets was third, another 1 1/2 lengths back.
Fast Play, a son of Seattle Slew, covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 3/5 on a fast track.
Open Mind, coupled with Surging as an odds-on choice in the Demoiselle for 2-year-old fillies, closed fast to earn a neck victory over Derby’s Daughter. She ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:52.
