Culver City : Gas-Alcohol Law Approved

The City Council has given final approval to an ordinance that will require a conditional-use permit for the concurrent sale of gasoline and alcoholic beverages.
In 1986, the council passed an ordinance banning such combined sales, but the state Legislature last year passed a measure invalidating such laws, effective Jan. 1, 1989. The state did allow cities to regulate such sales through the permit process, which usually involves a public hearing and review by planning officials.
The new city ordinance, which will also increase the parking requirement to a minimum of eight spaces, takes effect in 30 days.
