In one of the quickest releases after a broadcast, the first part of Herman Wouk’s “War and Remembrance” will hit the videocassette retail market Dec. 2 carrying a price tag of $139.95, ABC’s distribution company announced. The mega-million-dollar ABC miniseries completed the first 18 hours of its run Wednesday night. Citing “War and Remembrance” as a major television event that many Americans will want to have for their home video libraries, Waleed B. Ali--president of MPI Home Video, the tapes’ distributor--said: “Nowhere else on television has the story of World War II been depicted with such attention to historical details or heart-rending human conditions.” ABC began the first installment of “War and Remembrance” broadcasts Nov. 13 and will air the second installment in the spring.
