Ringo, Back in Britain, Vows No More Drinking

LONDON — Former Beatle Ringo Starr returned to Britain today from a private clinic for alcoholics in the United States and vowed he would never drink again.

“I feel a lot better,” Starr said, “and my intention is never to drink again. . . . I haven’t had a drink in 45 days, and that’s amazing for me.” The 48-year-old drummer and his wife, U.S. film actress Barbara Bach, flew to Arizona for treatment for alcoholism five weeks ago.
