After a 4-year layoff, Phil and Steve Mahre had a successful return to professional skiing. at Park City, Utah. In qualifying for the America’s Opening pro ski race, Steve Mahre finished with the second fastest combined time, and Phil Mahre finished third. The only racer to beat the Yakima, Wash., twins was Niklas Lindquist of Sweden, also a rookie on the pro circuit tour this year.
