Spanish-language TV station KMEX Channel 34 today debuts “Noticentro 34, Edicion Nocturna” (News 34, Night Edition), a weeknight half-hour second edition local newscast airing at 10 p.m. “Noticentro” will update top news and sports stories airing on KMEX’s “Noticiero 34” at 6 p.m., as well as weather and a weekly series of consumer reports. KMEX’s Paco Calderon and Cristina Gonzalez are “Noticentro’s” co-anchors; Mario Solis its sportscaster. KMEX’s news director Felipe Munoz is confident that “Noticentro” will give KTLA Channel 5’s “News at 10” a run for its money. “Now (KTLA’s Spanish-language simulcast) has something to worry about because they’ll be competing directly with a Spanish-language newscast,” Munoz said.
