WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Two people died aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 luxury liner as it crossed the South Pacific, New Zealand police said today.
A police spokesman in Auckland said an English crew member and an elderly American passenger died as the British liner made a troubled cruise in a 60-knot storm from Tahiti to New Zealand. Steward Delroy Peters, 31, died on the ship’s operating table of heart failure while being treated for a burst appendix, and 88-year-old Dorothy Watkins died of pneumonia.
